      Studio where Icons are made.
A glimpse of heaven in the church. (sorry for the blurry photo, flash did not go off).
A view from the car. what a view!
Br. Derrick being his own Iconic self (grin).
The baptismal room, see story below.
The Altar viewed from the Right side.

This was the Monestary we visited in Jordanville NY. It was exciting for me after a Quarter of studying Icons, to be in the mist of them. Women are requested to dress modestly (long dress and sleeves) and cover their head in scarf. Men to wear long pants and long sleeve shirts. I was thankful it was cool that day as I am not a fan of humid heat, or extream heat in any form!

Since our instructors had set this up months ago, we were invited to 'break bread' with them for lunch. It was a vegan meal which surprised me, since it is a farm. But I found out that their belife is we should not partake of any flesh, which is what animals are, but only with plant matter. The lentil soup was great, and the bread and salads were very delicious and quite satisfying. All of us felt good after the meal and realized how healthy it was, but not boring!

The baptismal is in a different building. The reason being one of practicality. The church is made of wood with wooden floors. So a separate one was made for that purpose. The water is blessed and used through out the year. When someone is baptised, some of the blessed water is used and they are imersed (head plunged in the name of the Father, (blub) the Son (blub) and the Holy Spirit (blub). It is DEEP and I think to myself, how would I get in and out, would I get STUCK? I was glad I had my baptism when I was ten and thin!!! (mine was the dip method).

Here some more of the gorgous work these people do and live among.
The baptismal, the transfiguration of Christ.
The Baptism of Jesus.  Entrance hall to the chapel. (again sorry for the blur). See how the gold gleems against the clouds. Yep, its REAL Gold.
Icon of the Ressurected Christ, notice the two people whom he also has resurrected, they are Adam and Eve, his salvation is for ALL humanity that chose to believe.  Just a small glimpse of the garden they have.

    More later friends.
